T2K over the Internet
Is it possible to have only one database and have a group of publishers to work on it over a local area network (LAN)? The answer: Yes and it’s simple, when and if the network is already established. There are a few things you must do. Let’s outline these:
1.) You create a share location on pc1. This pc1 will be your acting server.
2.) On this server, you will share T2K’s Back-end database.
3.) Then, you have the publisher’s pc’s map a network drive to pc1’s shared path.
4.) Link their Front-End database to the Back-end PC1
Here’s an article that explains file sharing: Practically Networked
As you can see, it’s not too hard …to create a network environment and have a group of publishers work on the same database. Okay, this is great, but what about working over the internet? Yes, even this is possible, but you will need some third party tools to make this happen, like netdrive or webdrive. These client applications make it possible to map a network drive to an FTP or “webdav” source. At the same time, these tools have settings so you can configure the permissions you already enable at the server side. Therefore, when making a connection over the internet, make sure to have your server location secure and away from public access.
You can take advantage of networking and have a group of publishers easily populate a single database by having the front-end T2K link to the Back-end T2K database.
Database Driven T2K Web Site
Introducing our new Territory Administrator 2000 Web Site! Fully database-driven. After all, since we do focus on a database product, we should also power our site with a data source service.
As we publish this new change, please bear with us as we migrate our static page content over, this includes our download, support and other pages. In the meantime, please drop a comment if you wish and we hope using this new system, we can provide quicker news and updates to you. Thanks.
Do Not Call Highlights
The upcoming version E of Territory Administrator 2000 will include an option to highlight any house-hold records that are applied with a “Do Not Call” symbol. When printing ‘territory reports’ or ‘phone reports’, you can decide if you would like your report to highlight in red any ‘do not call’ records.
Download the new version D!
As promised, we have patched Territory Administrator 2000 SR1.2C to the newer version “D”. The version D comes fixed with a cleaner ‘Month Range’ feature. With this fix, you can query month ranges and be assured that you’ll be seeing all the ‘checked-in’ territories based on the month ranges that you apply, including the recent checked in territories. Therefore, please proceed to our download page and update your current version of T2K. As always, we welcome your feedback!
